Kpop, Jazzfunk, Drawing Instructor

Kai is a New York University graduate and has been teaching dance to age groups from as wide a range as 4 to 60 years old since 2019.

Dance and drawing class prices vary. Adult and kids classes are consistently priced so families may share pricing options. All prices are after tax, so what you see is what you pay, no additional charges or fees.

Drop-In Dance Programs

Our drop-in classes occur at the same time every week. With drop-in classes, you never pay for a class you don't attend, and with a new song every week, you never fall behind if you miss a class. To see what songs we'll be teaching each week, check out our Instagram for updates @2zstudioto

Art Programs

We offer semi-private drawing lessons for kids and young students to be taught in groups of 1-3. All art supplies except sketchbooks are provided. Our drop-in lessons are for kids 6-11 years old. Youth and adult students can book private lessons by appointment only.

Where are you located?

What should I bring/prepare for class?

  • Please bring a clean pair of shoes to change into and a water bottle! We have space to hang your coats and hold all of your belongings both in the dance room and in our waiting area.

What language are lessons taught in?

  • Group lessons are taught in English to include as many students as possible. Private or semi-private programs can be instructed in Mandarin or blended English and Mandarin Chinese.

Do you have discounts/passes for siblings?

  • We offer sibling discounts to make lessons more affordable for parents paying for multiple of their kids in the same class. Contact us and we're happy to help!

Which class is right for me?

  • Classes are organized by recommended skill level or age group. Kids classes are recommended for youth ages 4+. Beginner classes are suitable for students of any age with no dance experience, but we recommend youth and adults ages 12+. All level classes are for those looking to challenge themselves one step up from a beginner lesson, regardless of what their skill level might be!

What is a '2Z'?

  • '2Z' is a play on the phonetic pronunciation of the Chinese word for 'Rabbit', which is 兔子 (tù zi).

What is Jazzfunk?

  • Also known or affiliated with as commercial dance and street jazz, Jazzfunk is a fundamentally fusion style of dance. It incorporates the powerful and modern elements of Hiphop with traditional Jazz elements and technique, and is popular with artists like Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Tate Mcrae and many Kpop artists. Because Jazzfunk covers such a diverse range of dance styles and techniques, it is a great option for beginners to explore Jazzfunk choreography and discover what movements and energies most resonate with them.

Can you teach this choreography?

  • We are always excited to hear what your favorite songs and Kpop choreographies are that you would like to learn from us! Feel free to drop a suggestion in our inbox and we will try to schedule your recommendations in upcoming classes. However, in the case of specific choreography you want to learn, 2ZStudio will only teach our original choreography or outside choreographies that have already had their dance rights sold to a third party (such as Kpop choreography.) Most choreographies on social media, such as original dances you see on Youtube or Instagram Reels, are intellectual property of those choreographers and unfortunately, we will not teach them at our studio. This is to protect choreographers from having their work profited off of without compensation. Thank you so much!

Friendly, Professional Programs

At our camps and youth programs, students get more than professional mentorship art and dance skills. They meet friends with similar interests, passions and goals, and have the most fun participating in varieties of activities that all of our students love.

  • Maximum 12 students per program so every student gets the attention they deserve

  • Instructors are experienced in their craft and working with youth - not just one or the other.

  • Programs are flexible to student's interests - their favorite songs, artists and characters

Rent our Space

Our multi-purpose studio is available 7 days a week for rental by hour. Our clean, comfortable and affordable space is ideal for private lessons, group practices, personal practice and more.

About our Studio

  • Free parking outside unit

  • ~ 700 sq ft, comfortably occupying up to 15 dancers

  • Vinyl floor with sprung subfloor (not suitable for heels or hard shoes eg. tap)

  • 8.5' ceiling with full length mirrors

  • Reception, waiting area and restroom on second floor

  • Restroom on first floor

  • No PA sound system. Renters may use studio speakers or personal speakers

Our rental rates are by hour, dependent on the number of occupants in the studio.
